Teacher
I was born and raised in a small town in southeast Kansas. After graduation from Uniontown High School, I attended Fort Scott JUCO and Pittsburg State University.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a major in Biology Education and a minor in Physical Education. I attended the University of Arkansas and have 36 graduate hours in Gifted and Health education. I am certified to teach Life sciences (Biology, Anatomy), Physical sciences (Chemistry and Physical Science), Health, PE, and GT.
I attended the APSI training at the University of Arkansas and received additional certification to teach AP Biology.
I started teaching in 1977 at Gentry High School. I taught science there for 5 years before moving to Hindsville. I started teaching at Huntsville High School in 1983 and have been at HHS ever since. That makes a total of 41 years teaching with 36 of them in Huntsvile! I am currently teaching AP Biology, PAP Biology, and General Biology and I love it!
I married my husband Tom when I was a sophomore in college and we have been married for 46 years. We have 5 children: Tracy (who teaches at Watson Primary), T.W., Luke, Jay (who at 6 months old went to be with his Heavenly Father), and Andy. All graduated from HHS and still live within 10 miles of one another. I have 12 grandchildren that range in age from 21 to 5 months! They are my source of joy and happiness!
